From ancient chant, ceol mór and planxties to dance music, improvisation, ballads, and humor, internationally-acclaimed performing and recording artists Ann & Charlie Heymann bring the magical sound of the ancient Gaelic harp to modern ears.
Ann Heymann is a master in the performance and traditions of the Gaelic harp and leads the instrument's revival today. Charlie Heymann is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, also known for accompanying Ann's harp playing and lending his voice as the foundation of their ballads, recitations, and stories.
Playing a replica harp with gold bass strings, Ann and Charlie present diverse and engaging concert programs with Gaelic harp, vocals, wooden flute, whistles, cittern, guitar, percussion, accordion & concertina. Their travels have brought the two of them to 38 of the 50 states, much of western Europe, Australia and Taiwan.
The Shepherd School of Irish Music is thrilled to welcome them to Chief O'Neill's on Thanksgiving weekend for a very special night of music spanning pan-Gaelic and Irish traditions from ancient to modern.
In addition, Ann Heymann will present a workshop on Historical Harp Techniques and Perspectives in the afternoon before the concert. All harpists are welcome!
